We can use our experience and skills
as practitioners to plan and look objectively at the more strategic
issues.
We have carried out extensive consulting work for the Local Government
Commission for England. The Local Government Commission for England
(LGCE) is an independent body set up by Parliament. Its task is to
review and make recommendations to the Government on whether there
should be changes to the structure of local government, the boundaries
of individual local authority areas, and their electoral arrangements,
such as the number of councillors the electors in each area should
have to represent them.
Since 1995, we have advised them on their entire IT strategy. This
has encompassed technical audits, preparing and supporting them in
tendering exercises, project management of external resources and
monitoring their third-party support. Always with a close eye on spending
tax-payers money wisely and carefully, it has been crucial to ensure
that they have been able to procure the best value and service, whilst
at the same time preserving the integrity of our work we have had
not only to be seen as independent, but to act accordingly so as not
to compromise this government department's processes or procedures.
